The Best Hair Extensions Possible
I have had long hair for as long as i can remember so hair extensions are not necessary for me. Having long hair is time consuming and a pain at time but i love having the choice of style and i think it just suits me personally. I will probably be one of these 80 year old women with long white hair in a bun with a cat on my lap !!
I can understand why so many women desire long locks and considering it takes so long to grow it to any length, hair extensions are the perfect solution for an instant new look. Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Cheryl Cole, Emma Noble and Demi Moore to name but a few have made hair extensions hugely popular. A friend of mine decided to give it a go so we decided to do some research for her as she had heard of bad experiences and as hair extensions are expensive she wanted to make sure she had the facts. Having short blonde hair she wanted something soft and different and fancied dark brown curly hair extensions.
There is so much information on both human hair extensions and the synthetic hair extensions that are made from fibers. Both need to be looked after with good quality shampoo and conditioners and using a special brushes for hair extensions helps with tangles. As your normal hair grows the hair extensions move with the growth so normally they need to be replaced around 3-4 months, an expense to bear in mind. Also your own hair should be between 2.5 -3 inches long for the hair extensions fitting.
There is a lot mentioned about weaving hair extensions and braided hair extensions. If not done properly, apparantly these methods can cause damage to the scalp and hair if application is too tight. Weaving hair extensions can pull on the scalp and if they are too heavy (as is the case for human hair extensions) can be very uncomfortable. If glue is used it can burn and split the hair so your own hair always has to be trimmed. If professionally done though this shouldn't happen. African American hair extensions quite often use this method.
What is really great is the choice of style and color you have. You can have long or short hair extensions and multi colored hair extensions if you want. I didn't think you would be able to use heated products like rollers, hairdryers and hair straighteners on synthetic hair but you can and the style holds for ages. You can just change the look over and over again.
Clip in hair extensions were another option as they are temporary and a great idea for a different look for a short time, and they don't damage the hair. I did buy color clip in hair extensions as it added some fun without me having to go to extremes! The cherry red hair extensions are a fantastic color.
My friend opted to have human hair and had no problems, except getting used to having long curly hair extensions flowing down her back. She did go for the dark brown hair extensions which is a beautiful shiny rich color. Quite a drastic change, a very different look for her. She said its weird looking in the mirror !
There are some conflicting stories but in conclusion if you seek out a professional who is willing to show you certificates, experience and examples of satisfied clients (as there does not seem to be a lot of official training necessary, like an apprenticeship) and talk it through so you get exactly what you want, you should get wonderful flowing hair extensions without any problems.
